Todays’ market gardeners know that some plastics are in fact much more effective than glass: this material is better at withstanding both sunlight and bad weather; materials like "Altuglas" filter out UV radiation that can damage crops and its low transparency to InfraRed light guarantees a high green house effect, thus reducing energy consumption.

The same products are perfectly transparent and extremely shock resistant, that is why the walls of to-days’ squash courts and the back-panels of basket-ball courts are often made of altuglas.
