Structural resins are used to make composite materials for cars, caravans and even trains.
When used in body panels these materials provide high shock resistance coupled with a lighter weight.
For instance, replacing 250-300 kg of steel by 100kg of the Cray valley composite brings average fuel savings of 8%.
Over a vehicle life of 100,000 km, this comes to about 1000 litres of petrol. For China this is a huge amount of fuel saved and pollution avoided each year.
