About 70 % of the oil and gas produced throughout the world today comes from fields which came on stream more than twenty years ago. Even though production is declining, these fields still have enormous potential for the coming decades, provided that oil companies can find economical ways to tap the remaining reserves.
As reserves become increasingly difficult to tap, companies want to be able to pump oil at lower cost and with less environmental impact. New fluids have been developed by cross-fertilizing silicones, latex, polymer, surfactant and hydrocolloid capabilities.
This true technical breakthrough enables faster oil extraction and significantly reduces the risk of damage.
