Years of effort, a great number of problems and constraints to overcome, to design an interior as harmonious and welcoming as a "Second Home" needs stylists and designers reconciling a multiplicity of criteria. An automotive interior is, above all, a coherent mixture which symbolizes the confluence of stylistic emotion, creature comforts (liveability, comfort, ergonomics, acoustics) and technical development. The stake the designers have is to keep their original creative verve, while providing a maximum of features and comfort: To create a welcoming, inner room, while not giving a claustrophobic impression of enclosure.

It is a constant effort, to help spontaneous creativity evolve toward final conceptualization; for Marc Mellac, middle-range interior design manager at Citroën: "It has its roots in a fertile past, interpreted today in a vision of the future. Interior spaces are particularly amenable to creative expression, because interiors reveal our most intimate choices, allowing us more aesthetic liberty", he says.
A successful interior therefore satisfies bio-mechanical requirements (those connected with driving), objective and subjective sensory input: sight, touch, smell, as well as mental input: happiness, beauty, serenity, conviviality. The interior is a living space in which innovation is found at the encounter of every function, of each piece, of each sensation. At the encounter of beauty, goodness, utility and pleasure.
