What is the website for ?

Mankind has developed very fast in the last few hundred years with the help of Science and Technology.

China is the biggest country in the world, so Science Popularisation is a major task to help further development of China and indeed of the whole world.

Mankind is developing very fast towards a higher and higher degree of international cooperation and exchanges, the world "globalisation" is on everybody lips.

So the introduction of better scientific ideas and more advanced technological solutions from one country to another is a positive development.

This website is instrumental in supporting Science Popularisation by introducing some of the major questions of modern life and their solutions in the world as a whole and in China especially through the use of 21st century technology from European countries, especially from France.
By giving general as well as specific informations, providing interesting and entertaining ways of learning about science and technology, and by constantly updating the information, people of all ages are enabled to understand better what big issues are in front of us and how we will be able to move forward.

This website is itself an example of international cooperation, as it is organized in cooperation of the CSTEC under the MOST and the Fondation Villette-Entreprises.

Sustainable Technologies: Instruments of the concept of Sustainable Development

three elements of sustainable development
  Three elements of sustainable development

Science and technology have provided the base for a better standard of living for more people on our planet than ever before. From just 1 billion people 200 years ago living without electricity, motors, safe water supplies or modern medicine we have come to more than 6 bio. people of which at least the vast majority can enjoy a longer, safer, and more comfortable life.

However, not only have we still not reached the point were all people living on earth can live such good lifes, it is also clear for all to see that by using up supplies of raw materials, fossil fuels, water etc. and by polluting our planet we are endangering the wellbeing of future generation.

Development in the 21st century must therefore be Sustainable Development (SD), a use of science, technology and resources

which help to raise the standard of living of todays generations as well as ensuring the continuation of this positive situation for the coming generations.

This is a major task which needs to be tackled by all companies, governments and citizens. SD is not only concerned with the ecological impact of scientific and technological advances. According to the internationally accepted definition as was given at the Kyoto conference 1992 and the Johannesburg conference 2002 and which is also used by the government of the PR of China, SD is also about the economical and social impact of all new scientific and technological advances.

This website shows how global companies around the world and especially in China are paying attention towards the question of SD by introducing scientific methods and new technologies which give the tools for government and people to assure a ecologically, economically and socially balanced long-term development.
